Lyman Fire Tower

My Friend has wanted to visit the tower for a number of years but hadn't made it until today, as he said "another one off my list.

Near the village of Ellesmere is a relic of a time when manpower was the best way to watch for the signs of a forest fire. This cache will take you to the base of one of these towers. (the bottom of the ladder has been removed so that you DON"T climb the unmaintained structure) The view from the base of the tower is unremarkable as the forest surrounds it on all sides. On the trip up, however, we encountered evidence of wolves and moose, as well as startling a partridge or two. I cannot recommend driving over the Bridge as we didn't, we walked across it and then enjoyed our hike to the tower.
